BOCA RATON, Fla. - Eugene “Gene” Angelotti, 68, of Florida, formerly of Mendota, loving father of three children and six dogs, passed away Aug. 2, 2020.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service was held on Aug. 10 at the Babione Funeral Home, Boca Raton, Fla. A celebration of life in the Mendota area will be planned for a later date.
Gene was born in 1952 in Erie, Pa. to Lawrence and Jean (Oligeri) Angelotti.
Survivors include two children, James (Mindy) Angelotti of Boynton Beach, Fla. and Jaclyn (Anthony) Schultz of Eureka; one brother, David (Gayelle) Angelotti of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three sisters, Roberta (Richard) Taylor of Dune Acres, Ind., Rita (John) Jacobson of DeKalb and Tina (Keith) McKimmey of Morton; four grandchildren, Reese Putnam, Addison Angelotti, Carter Angelotti, and Camden Angelotti; his two dogs, Rocky and Henry; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jennifer Angelotti; his parents; two brothers, Garry Angelotti and Larry Angelotti; his two Papillons, JoJo and Crumb Cake; his Cocker Spaniel, Care Bear; his Miniature Pincher, Ralphie, and his ring-tailed Lemur, Herbie.
Gene was raised in Mendota and graduated from Mendota High School in 1970. He began working in the insurance industry as an adjuster in 1981 and moved to Florida in 2000. He cared deeply for his animals. He loved his dogs dearly and also had a ring-tailed Lemur from Madagascar. He recently built a pond at his home for Koi and goldfish. He loved to travel and enjoyed taking cruises. He also loved attending all of his grandchildren’s events and spending time with his family. He was known for his outgoing and humorous personality, his story telling, and his giving and compassionate nature.
